The Lessons of Nani ka Ghar

The Lessons of Nani ka Ghar

There’s a kind of womanhood that doesn’t announce itself.

It’s not loud or flashy. It’s gentle but certain.

For many of us, Nani ka Ghar (Grandmother’s House) was our first classroom.

Not the kind with chalkboards, but one filled with rituals: watering your plants every day,  folding laundry with care, learning when to speak and when to hold space. That house taught us how to move through the world - with softness and strength.

There is a rhythm to her home.

Ceiling fans that never stop turning. The soft thud of chappals on tile. A breeze that brought in the scent of coconut, jasmine from the windowsill, and something delicious slowly cooking in the kitchen.

Did you know?

Scents like jasmine and sandalwood have long been used in South Asian rituals to ground the body and soothe the mind. Their presence in homes isn't just decorative, it is restorative.

At Safr, we wanted to honor that space. The kind of home that held you before you even understood the weight of the world.

Our Nani ka Ghar candle opens with familiar comfort: coconut and jasmine. It then blooms into soft peony and warm tonka, floral and feminine. Then it settles into sandalwood and vanilla, the scent of worn furniture and love.

This isn’t nostalgia for the past.
It’s a tribute to the women who shaped us.
And the homes that taught us how to be.

Let your space carry that energy.
Let it smell like Nani ka Ghar.
